Conifer Blues Festival
3nd Annual Conifer Blues Festival
Earthy, energetic and rocking, this promises to be a delightful afternoon and evening flowing with sonorous Blues delights.
Opening at 1:00 is the Steve Crenshaw Band. Steve is a guitar virtuoso with a powerful voice and enigmatic presence. Having played guitar since age 5, Steve is a founding member of 103.5 The Fox radio's Lewis and Floorwax and the Groovehawgs. Most recently, Steve shared the stage with Foreigner, Great White, Delbert McClinton, and he engineered a scorching set to a sold out Red Rocks crowd, opening for comedian, Carlos Mencia.
The Steve Crenshaw Band is comprised of fellow world-class musicians; Kim Stone on bass and Matt Amundson on drums. Stone made 5 albums with Spyro Gyra, and is a 5-time Grammy nominee. Amundsen plays the local Denver circuit with renowned sax player, Laura Newman, and her band AOA.
Next up is Chris Daniels and The Kings. For nearly 20 years, Daniels and his band have entertained local music fans with a souped-up mix of jump blues, blue-eyed soul and horn-infused rock. The Kings have also earned something of a worldwide fan base. For uplfting, raucous and sweaty blues, this band delivers the goods. The Kings are: Colin "Bones" Jones (lead guitar), Randy Amen (drums, vocals), Kevin "Bro" Lege (bass, vocals), Darryl "Doody" Abrahamson (trumpet, vocals), Jim Waddell (alto, tenor sax, flute, vocals).
Special guests adding to the fabulous synergy are rhythm and blues singer Hazel Miller, and the soulful and charismatic Freddi Gowdy, formerly of the Freddi-Henchi Band.
Wrapping up the day, you'll enjoy The Once Removed Band from Conifer, CO. The Once Removed Band plays an eclectic mix of music ranging from blues, rock, and pop standards to original music, all performed in the ORB's unique interpretive style. This gives all of the band's music a fresh, vivacious Colorado Blues sound that guarantees to keep the audience enthralled and energized.
These spectacular bands will perform in the meadow behind the historic Midway House at Meyer Ranch in Aspen Park, CO. With Berrian Mountain as a scenic backdrop, the venue provides rare beauty complementing the talents and skills of the musicians.
