Terence Blanchard Featuring The E Collective

Thursday, May 3, 2018, 7:30 PM

The trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard, a multiple Grammy-winner, leads his quintet, The E-Collective. Socially conscious music rooted in the Black Lives Matter movement, Blanchard's debut album with the E-Collective captures how, in his words, "music and art have the power to change hearts and souls." This electric, fusion-influenced ensemble boasts guitarist Charles Altura, pianist Fabian Almazan, bassist David "DJ" Ginyard Jr. and drummer Oscar Seaton, all of whom dedicated "Breathless" to Eric Garner, a New York black man fatally injured in an altercation with police, and cite the music's healing impact as inspiration to keep playing in urban areas across the country.
