Intermediate/Proficient Riding Camp Ages 8 -11 (6/3-6/7)-Full Day CS
Intermediate/Proficient Riders: 8-11 Pedaling Minds is a bicycle education program that focuses on teaching kids how to ride in control. Once they have control, we realize that riding in the real world is the next step. If your child is a proficient rider and between the ages of 8 - 11, this is the class for you. Every day, we will ride between 5 and 12+ miles and explore the Boulder trail network and bike-friendly roads as we ride to planned destinations. Think of it as field trips by bicycle. Along the way, I will address trail etiquette, road safety, and bicycle safety. Here they will learn how to change a flat, how to replace a fallen chain, traffic patterns, and of course finding other adventures along the way. We will visit places such as the Valmont Bike Park, different local businesses, parks, streams, museums to learn what these venues do, what products they make, where certain things come from, etc. We will stop and explore different streams, play on different playgrounds, and launch water rockets. This camp is meant to be an experience. By the end of the week, your child will likely have ridden nearly 60+ miles, and view riding in a completely different way. On the trails, they will also become better, more knowledgeable and more confident riders, without really noticing it. To keep our riders safe, as individual riders and as a group, they will go through safety and skills drills prior to each ride on the trail. It’s fun, great for our minds and bodies, for kids involved and the venues we visit! This camp is meant to be an experience. Some of my best memories of summer involve my bicycle and exploration and it is still like that today. Certain exceptions will be made for very proficient kids that are 7 years old. They must be able to stay with the group and ride 6 miles day after day repeatedly to be considered for this group. These rides are meant to be non-competitive fun group rides. If you have a great rider who has even raced, we welcome them too, but they will be put in a leadership role to demonstrate the high level of control and the proper etiquette of a young rider. Intermediate / Proficient: There are sub-levels of Intermediate / Proficient riders. In this camp, we welcome riders have had time on their bicycle and have confidence and decent control of their bicycle. They are able to stop when asked and do quickly without issue. They should be able to stand, use their gear's reasonably well and have a decent awareness of what to look for and think about while having quick reaction times and be able to stop quickly. Experience and time riding make the difference, age is a factor is these camps only based on the distance we ride day after day. Class Min: 5 KidsClass Max: 15 Kids What KIDS should bring to camp: Bike - It's a good opportunity for us to safety check your child’s bike and see what they are riding at home. I will make suggestions and adjustments if needed. Helmet (if you have one) - They will receive a helmet fit. Wearing a helmet is mandatory during this camp for any activity on the bike. You will receive a more comprehensive list of what to bring as the camp approaches. For more Information / Questions: Visit: www.Pedalingminds.orgPh:(720) 828-5936
