Ogallala - Banner Health EM - HIMT Institute (Incident Command and Command Staff Training)
Overview This course will provide participants with an introduction to the Incident Commander position along with the Command Staff positions—Liaison Officer, Public Information Officer, Safety Officer, and Medical/Technical Specialist. The course includes hands-on training and the use HICS Forms and Job Action Sheets. Learning Objectives 1. Provide overview of roles and responsibilities of the Command Section positions a. Incident Commander b. Liaison Officer c. Public Information Officer d. Safety Officer e. Medical/Technical Specialist 2. Provide an overview of the HICS Activation process 3. Provide an overview of each Job Action Sheet and appropriate HICS Forms 4. Provide hands-on, discussion-based practice scenario Target Audience Participants should include: - Healthcare personnel who are likely to assume a leadership HICS position in the Hospital Command Center. - Healthcare personnel who have primary responsibility for emergency management. - Healthcare Emergency Management Committee members or those key leaders whose departments support the Emergency Operations Plan. Recommended Prerequisites ICS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System—Link to Course ICS-200.HCA: Applying ICS to Healthcare Organizations - Link to Course ICS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System - Link to Course ICS-800.c: An Introduction to the National Response Framework—Link to Course Course Length 2 hours Certification This course will utilize a certificate to show completion. Evaluation Strategy This course will utilize three evaluation strategies: 1. Participant feedback during training discussion 2. Group discussion of emergency management and preparedness concepts 3.
