Pedaling Minds: Beginner / Early Intermediate Skills Camp ages 5-13 (7/15-7/19) - Half Day CS
Beginner Rider / Early Intermediate: 5-13 In this camp, we welcome riders who know how to pedal, ages 5-13. This camp is designed for those who know how to pedal and are on their way to becoming confident bike riders, but lack in areas of specific control as well as an understanding of awareness and safety. Our goal of creating a lifelong habit of riding goes beyond the ability to just pedal. While riding on two wheels and wearing a properly fitted helmet is essential, it is control that prevents accidents and builds confidence. The helmet, like your seatbelt, is a safety device to protect from injury. We Teach Control. We will assess and challenge your child’s ability to improve their skill sets both physically and cognitively. We will make sure that they can handle their bicycles in multiple situations, know what look for, think about, be aware of, and how to control certain emotions. Every child is different, and some progress faster than others. We have a variety of drills, courses, and adaptive techniques based on your child's abilities. Control is not created in a few hours but developed by repeated drills and instruction over multiple days. Whether at our camps or while at home practicing, it connects cognitive thoughts and muscle memory. Riding within the confines of a safe parking lot and working on a variety of drills, a child rides an average distance of 6.5 miles during our half-day camps. Within a weeks’ time, we can significantly increase the ability and knowledge of your young rider, making them immediately better and safer riders. Having good control is important because one accident can change someone's life or prevent them from wanting to try riding ever again. It's the control that can prevent the accident from happening. I promise you will see changes in your child's approach. Their enthusiasm at home will be infectious, hopefully getting you out on your bike, too :). Beginner / Early Intermediate: There are sub-levels of Beginner/Intermediate riders. In this camp, we welcome riders that can start and stop on command. The rider is becoming confident, but lacks in areas of more comprehensive control and understanding of what to look for, think about, etc., and has long reaction times. Early intermediate will maybe be able to stand and have had more time on their bicycle than a beginner rider. Riders start being smooth in their actions on the bike and the excessive weaving subsides. Experience and time riding make the difference, not age. Class Min: 5 KidsClass Max: 15 Kids What KIDS should bring to camp: Bike - It's a good opportunity for us to safety check your child’s bike and see what they are riding at home. I will make suggestions and adjustments if needed. Helmet (if you have one) - They will receive a helmet fit. Wearing a helmet is mandatory during this camp for any activity on the bike. You will receive a more comprehensive list of what to bring as the camp approaches. For more Information / Questions:Visit: www.Pedalingminds.orgPh:(720) 828-5936
