Upper Dream Canyon May 13th to June 4th

Friday, May 31, 2019, 3:00 PM

Come help FRCS for the second season of work out in Dream Canyon.  The team will be continuing to work on the access down to Oceanic Wall and making the trail sustainable into the future.  The project will require much quarrying of material and transporting the stone to where it will be built into a sustainable tread down near the crag. Volunteers should be prepared for spring/summer time Colorado weather (rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses etc.), and bring plenty of water, snacks, and lunch for the day of work. This is a moderate to intensive workday.  We look to accomodate all skill levels & abilities by working as a team. a relatively short but steep hike is required to access the worksites. Volunteers will be off trail in steep and uneven terrain the majority of the day.  Closed-toed shoes/boots and long pants are required for the day of work.  Eyewear, and gloves can be provided, but feel free to bring your own gear if you wish.  Due to the nature of the work we ask that you leave your pets at home.   Our work day generally lasts from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  As a volunteer your time commitment is flexible.  You are welcome to work anytime within that time window as you wish.  We only ask that you let us know your plan ahead of time for planning purposes.  After registering for the particular day, we will contact you, request your desired schedule and be able to answer any questions you may have.  If a minor, please know that we will need a parent/guardian's signature on some volunteer waiver paperwork.  Please contact us if that is the case. Directions to the worksite:   Turn right on Sugerloaf Rd. (~4 miles up Boulder Canyon). After 3 miles, take a left on Lost Angel Road, continue straight at 1 mile, head left shortly after (at the sign posted on a tree stump that says North Gulch), and you will reach a dirt parking lot within another half mile.  To reach the worksite (near the base of Oceanic Wall), look for the trail on the NW side of the parking area near the curve in the road and head down approximately 5 minutes.  Parking area on Google Maps:  https://goo.gl/maps/HrQfy6baUur Mountain Project page:  https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105744234/upper-dream-canyon Please contact us at frcsbcc@gmail.com for more information or questions about volunteering on this project.  Thank you so much for your interest in taking care of our climbing resources!  Best regards,  FRCS
